It was indeed a season to be jolly as Lancaster New City held another gift giving activity which aimed to spread the Christmas spirit to its nearby communities. What made the gift giving held last December 17 was the attendance of the Children’s Joy Foundation, a shelter in Cavite that takes care of 25 kids.
Joining in the fun also were the St. Edward students who became Santa’s helpers for the day, assisting and helping the Children’s Joy kids. The day became one big children’s Christmas party with fun activities and performances prepared by both the students and the kids from the Children’s Joy Foundation.
Kicking off the program was Santa with his fairy friends and elves doing a special dance to pump up the crowd. The kids were more than happy cheering Santa on.
The next set of performances came from the talented St. Edward students. The dance troupe came prepared as they dressed in traditional Pinoy costumes and did a folk dance performance. The acoustic group then took the stage and sang heartfelt Christmas songs for the crowd.
The kids from Children’s Joy also showed everyone their talents as their rondalla group played instruments and sang joyful Christmas songs. The youngest among the 25 kids surprised the crows as they performed a power dance. Vicky Cardeno, Center Head of the Children’s Joy Foundation, expressed proudly that the kids she takes care of are very talented and are always full of energy and excitement when invited to events like the gift giving at Lancaster New City.
Sharing the same sentiments was Dr. John Cabalo, St. Edward Schools principal. He said that the gift giving activity is one perfect event where the students are given the chance to help and interact with others. It was the time where the students shared not only gifts but also their time and talents.
After all the performances, the Children’s Joy kids were called one by one to receive their gifts. Santa Claus, the St. Edward students, and Lancaster New City officials were all there to witness the joy of the kids as they eagerly accepted the gifts.
After tearing the gift wrappers, the Children’s Joy kids and their St. Edward buddies then played with the new toys together. One final surprise for the guests was a 15-minute Christmas lightshow, capping off the night. Take a glimpse of the heartwarming event HERE.
